MIKE PARSONS

Freckled, rail-thin Mike Parsons doesn’t quite fit the stereotype of the bronzed, broad-shouldered surf God, but looks can be deceiving. His impressive performance on everything from modest to massive waves has established him as one of the best surfers of all time.

SHANE DORIAN

"If the waves aren’t like Jaws or Teaupoo over 10 feet, it is much more gratifying to paddle in. I would rather only catch 10 waves paddling than 100 towing. I guess it’s because I feel like a clown towing into smaller waves.

GARRETT MCNAMARA

"Sandy Beach is a body Surfing Beach not a surf beach, not to mention defiantly not a tow spot. I was waving my partner Ikaika to go away and not pick me up in the impact zone because I wanted to take as many on the head as I could."

DARRYL 'FLEA' VIROSTKO

Virostko's logged in a similar amount of hours at Maverick's as his Santa Cruz cohort Mel, but his trial-and-error method has put him into situations at the fabled big-wave spot that you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy.
